Book club

Manuscript, book club for men in Antwerp

Manuscript is a book club for men. We read five good books, meet every six weeks in Antwerp and talk honestly about what we've read. No self-help, no networking, no exam.

Season 1 has the theme "Legacy": what you inherited from your father, your surroundings and your past, and what you do with it. The books are:

  1. Dungeon Crawler Carl, Matt Dinniman
  2. Razorblade Tears, S.A. Cosby
  3. The Sword of Kaigen, M.L. Wang
  4. Small Things Like These, Claire Keegan
  5. The Road, Cormac McCarthy

We start with six: five men and myself. The first evening is in December 2026 or January 2027, the date follows. That evening is an introduction and not yet a book discussion: you get book 1 and six weeks to read it.

Who it's for

For you if you like reading or want to start again, and you dare to have a conversation with other men. You don't need to have read anything and you don't need to say anything clever. Anyone who calls himself a man is welcome.

Not for you if you're looking for a networking event, tips to optimise yourself or a place to complain about others.

A note

Some of the books deal with heavy themes, such as violence, loss and abuse. This is stated per book in the schedule beforehand.

Language and accessibility

We talk in Dutch, with English where needed. You choose whether you read or listen, and in which language. Not every book exists in Dutch. Some are also available as an audiobook or film. If you need help getting a copy, just say so.

What happens next: as soon as there are enough sign-ups, I'll let you know whether you're in or on the waiting list. The first evening is in December or January, the date follows.
